Well, I don’t think anyone was expecting Tom Cruise’s Top Gun : Maverick to be the hit it is now. Don’t get me wrong, we all knew it would be a blockbuster but just smashing every other movie is something else.
This is done by Marvel movies and Yes, the competition that Tom Cruise had was a Marvel movie and that too a massive one but Oh! Yes. Tom Cruise has beat Marvel in their own game and came atop the Box office charts both Domestically and Internationally.
Using this many universes and even doing fan service can’t help Doctor Strange 2 beat the Tom Cruise starrer Top Gun.
The reason maybe the charisma of Tom Cruise or his appearance after so long but the success he enjoyed also gives credit to Marvel for marketing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in a way that less people will be willing to come to theatres.
The aggressive marketing technique used by Marvel in the promotions of Doctor Strange 2 showcases how much feared they were from Top Gun : Maverick. The daily TV spots basically just revealing a lot of information about the story and giving out the best moments of the movie away on promotions was a desperate task to handle the craze of Tom Cruise’s Top Gun : Maverick.
The simple reason behind this disparity is because Top Gun : Maverick took nearly 3 decades into making and the movies does an amazing job in bringing the old with the new which we all wanted to see, how Maverick is now after all these years and how it will end for him.
The whole movie promises a fun ride that has emotions rooted into it, be it making us laugh, cry or shocked.
On another hand, everyone knows the dedication Tom Cruise work with. He is the biggest Action Star in the world and he proves it again and again by providing us with the visuals that no other movie no matter how good the CGI they does can provide.

However, there will not be enough time for Tom Cruise to enjoy the top position at the Box office because however Doctor Strange is on Number 2 but after a month there will be Thor : Love and Thunder and it is something that fans are eagerly waiting for.
Thor 4 has all the elements to outrank any movie and that is true and we can see a monstrous run of Top Gun : Maverick just slowly die out.
But hopefully the movie gave us what we all wanted to see and connect with.
The movie is winning hearts in theatres and go watch it if you haven’t experienced it yet, it’s not a movie you wait for the OTT release, it’s an experience that needs to be experienced in the theatres.
