Why is Wonder Woman Skirt so short?
We bet you have wondered about this at least once after seeing the iconic Wonder Woman dress. But why does a noble Amazon warrior wear such short skirt. We are not looking at it with the perspective of patriarchy but blending feminism into it.

The latest iteration of Wonder Woman is the world famous portrayal in the DC movies by Gal Gadot and she does a wonderful job to bring the character on screen. Other thing is that it is not in her hand to change the costume or any other production based decision. The decision is from the producers and that is DC itself.

Let's go back to the history of it. It may come as a shock to the current generation but the skirt we see Gal Gadot wearing is by far the least sexist of the most famous Wonder Woman costumes.

The most famous portrayal and by far the most talked about is of Lynda Carter in the Wonder Woman TV series and here we can clearly see her wearing panties. Well, DC has some romantic connectino with underwears be it Superman or Wonder Woman. DC has made sure that we all remember them from their underwears.

In today's time, it may seem like a feminist move that a female superhero is wearing "Whatever she want and feel comfortable in" but the reality is often disappointing. This is comfortable for only men who want to see women like this and it's a dream come true for them.

If you have never seen this portrayal of Wonder Women then the only thing you may need to know is that it was a Sexist portrayal and she was often represented as an object which we all don't agree in today's time.

People recognized this as "Over sexualized" but for the actor Lynda Carter it was her way of expressing what she is. She said that,

"All the stuff about costumes being exploitive and blah blah. "You can't say that the sock in the pants of Superman wasn't. We should get over it. It is a women's body and it's not our problem what we look like. It's yours."

Lynda Carter still embraces her look and portrayal of the character and the TV series sure were deeply inspired by the comic source material. From costumes to the story line of episodes. So should we say that over sexualization of characters are okay.

Well, the thing is that it is the industry way of making money. We have all seen oversexualized male characters and to come par with it there are the equal share of female characters too. But are we still using this point to justify the oversexualization - that the male characters are okay with this but when it comes to female characters it becomes a topic to gossip about.

We have all seen production houses doing better with their character. We can take into consideration the Captain Marvel character from Marvel. She wears a full body suit and the costume is least sexualized.

The debate doesn't seem to end in the near future but the pressing issue still remains that "Is Over-sexualization feminism's answer to the patriarchal construct?".
